SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Thanks for your interest in submitting your work to The Bear Share!

 

Our goal is to publish and showcase Shaw University’s students' work that will not only make an impact on the student body but also our readers. By helping us, you will be sharing your work with a wide audience, plus earning extra exposure! Submissions are shared on our social media platforms and our upcoming journal.

Types of Submissions

 

• Pieces previously submitted to one of our writing contests

• Academic Essays

• Book and Tv Show Reviews

• Creative Writing Pieces (short stories, personal essays, poems, etc.)

Submission Guidelines

 

Email your submission to writingcenter@shawu.edu. Let us know more about you (major, classification, campus affiliations); you’ll attach your completed draft to the form as a Word doc.

 

• Aim for a length of 500-800 words.

• Include a 2-3 sentence summary of the piece.

• Submissions must be your original work and not published elsewhere on the web.

• The Writing Center Editorial Team reserves the right to edit your article, including grammar, spelling, and formatting.

All submissions are reviewed regularly by the team. You will be notified if your article is accepted (or not) within a week of submission.
